Henry County landfill reports January tonnage; commissioners approve publishing proposed tire-rate notice

Tracy McDaniels, Environmental Facilities Manager for Henry County, reported that the county transfer facility recorded 54.81 tons of municipal solid waste and 64.72 tons of tires in January 2026 and reminded residents that the facility will be closed Monday, Feb. 16, for Presidents' Day. She provided office hours and a contact number (419-256-7343) and pointed residents to the landfill webpage and Facebook page for additional information.
Following the presentation of operational and budget materials for landfill funds and the tire lease, the Board approved Resolution D directing staff to publish legal notice of a proposed tire rate of $0.15 per pound. The motion on Resolution D was made by Commissioner G. Jeff Brubaker and seconded by Commissioner Joel Miller; the motion passed unanimously. The board also reviewed detailed fund lines and year-to-date budget adjustments for landfill operations and tire lease accounts during the meeting.
