Commissioners decline immediate appointment to make Dusty Brillhart county fire chief

Commissioner JW Finn moved Feb. 23 to appoint EMS supervisor Dusty Brillhart as County Fire Chief and to name Stephanie Fink as EMS director, with no immediate salary adjustments; JW said he believes Dusty is the best fit. The motion died for lack of a second, and no personnel changes were adopted.
County Attorney David Thompson recommended tabling the matter and asked Clerk Gina Shores to prepare structural-change proposals and pay-plan information so the commissioners could make an informed decision at a subsequent meeting. Commissioners discussed the Fire Chief vehicle, volunteer pay adjustments and proposed salaries but took no action at this meeting.
