United Way thanks Jackson County commissioners for junior-reader donation

Representatives from United Way visited the Jackson County commissioners to thank them for a donation to the organization’s junior-reader program.
United Way Staff Lead Jenna and Vice President of Community Impact Brett Martin said the initiative began with a partnership at Holton Elementary and has since expanded to cover all three county school districts. They told the board that in 2025 the program distributed over 1,200 books and engaged about 60 volunteers who read in classrooms and allowed pupils to take copies home.
The representatives said they came in person to express appreciation for the commissioners’ support. No action or vote followed the presentation; the visit was recorded as an expression of thanks and a progress update.
