Superintendent warns of ESSER III spending deadline as bond outreach ramps up

Superintendent Ryan Phelan updated the board on facilities and finances at the Sept. 16 meeting, advising trustees that several consent and action items rely on remaining ESSER III grant funds that must be obligated by Sept. 30 or be returned to state and federal authorities. He said some ESSER-funded items will still require state approvals for reimbursement and that those reviews could take up to ten weeks.
Phelan also described the district's communication plan for an upcoming November bond election: a district mailer, residential flyers, a "get out to vote" postcard and planned yard signs placed by the bond committee in the weeks before the vote. He said the final flatwork project punch list is scheduled for Sept. 17, the last step to finalize a renovation project (10 Wing) whose completion is delayed to late October–mid-November.
