Board authorizes application for state voucher to buy electric mower

The Kingsburg Joint Union High School District board voted Sept. 16 to authorize application to the Zero-Emission Landscaping Equipment (ZELE) Voucher Program and to designate an authorized individual to administer the voucher. Trustee Steve Nagle moved approval of the resolution (M053-2425), which names a district designee to apply for vouchers to purchase an RZA 60" Cal Turf electric mower.
The minutes list the mower's estimated cost at $11,790.90 and note an "initial outlay before receiving reimbursement from the grant ($15,000)" that results in a net initial payment of $26,790.90 pending reimbursement procedures. The board approved the resolution unanimously. Superintendent Ryan Phelan and staff noted that the voucher program requires an authorized district representative to file and administer the application and reimbursements will occur after state processing.
