The Kingsburg Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees approved a cluster of capital and equipment purchases at its Sept. 16 meeting, including high-ticket items for athletic and campus operations. Major approvals included four spectator bleachers for the baseball complex ($97,177.46); two elevated spectator bleachers for the softball complex ($72,586.36); 1,342 Nike backpacks for student distribution ($114,421.43); and 1,300 Boostcharge laptop power banks ($96,319.73).
Trustees also approved audiovisual and facilities upgrades, such as an Epson LCD Laser projector with short-throw lens ($30,316.85), an upgrade to the stadium sound system ($12,898.91), and multiple security cameras and wireless access points from SHI International with a final quoted total of $21,423.12. The board recorded unanimous votes on many of these items; the backpack purchase passed 4–1 with Board President Mike Serpa recorded as the No vote. Several smaller but operationally significant purchases were also approved, including ice machines, floor scrubbers, vacuum and carpet-extraction equipment, and storage Tuff Sheds (15 units) for practice facilities.
Proceeding with the purchases, Superintendent Ryan Phelan noted several items will be funded in part by remaining ESSER III allocations that the district must obligate by a federal/state deadline, and some expenditures require state approval that could take multiple weeks. The board did not debate the bundled purchases at length during the meeting and approved the motions by roll call as listed in the meeting consent and action items.
