Grant County approves fire-pump purchase and directs staff to seek new training location

Fire Chief John Crosby presented a quote for a 2018 Fire Pump D902 engine: $6,160 for the engine plus a $1,150 core deposit. Commissioner John Martin moved to accept Pilot Engines' quote for a total payment of $7,310 with a returnable core deposit of $1,150 to be paid from the Fire Fund; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Figgins and carried unanimously.
During the same discussion Commissioner Martin raised community concerns about the location where Fire Department training is conducted. Chief Crosby said he "will be in contact with the City and/or the Road & Bridge to find a more suitable location to perform training." The board directed Chief Crosby to pursue alternatives to minimize community disruption.
