Wyoming County Veterans Services says property-tax exemption change unlikely to affect local veterans

Anthony Solina of Wyoming County Veterans Services briefed the Human Services Committee on veterans programming and recent state changes to property-tax exemptions. Solina said the legislation broadened eligibility to include veterans receiving TDIU (total disability based on individual unemployability) but, "to the best of my knowledge," this change will affect zero veterans in Wyoming County; he cited Monroe County’s internal estimate that only four veterans there would be affected as a comparative example. The committee noted the item as informational.
The committee also recognized Gary Huff as the Veteran of the Month and approved an announcement for a free haircut clinic scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM. No formal appropriation or binding action was taken on the tax-law note; the veterans presentation was listed on the agenda as an FYI.
