The City of Ruston on June 3 approved Resolution 811 to award the 2024-25 TIB Highland-Shirley Pavement Overlay Project to the lowest responsive bidder, Tucci & Sons, LLC, for $363,518. The project is substantially funded by a Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) grant of $352,222; the city will cover the required match, plus sales tax, up to the total contract amount.
City staff said the call for bids was published April 24, 2025, and the bid opening occurred May 22, 2025. Three responsive bids were received: Tucci & Sons ($363,518), Becker Blacktop ($395,610), and Puget Paving Construction ($398,633). If authorized, construction is expected to begin this summer and be substantially complete on or before Oct. 15, 2025. Councilmember Hedrick moved to approve Resolution 811 and Councilmember Syler seconded; the motion passed 4-0.
