The Beadle County Board of Commissioners reviewed bids for highway surfacing and highway supply materials and awarded the 2026 surfacing contract to Asphalt Paving, which bid $844,062.25. Duininck, Inc. submitted a competing bid of $1,203,135.50; the board deemed Asphalt Paving "in the best interest of the County." Motion to award was moved by Jared Zerfoss and seconded by Scott Slepikas, and the motion carried.
Highway Superintendent Jason Fritzsche presented supply bids opened Feb. 19, 2026, including road-oil and asphalt product bids (Flint Hills, Jebro, AE-150S/MC grades). An aggregate (quartzite) bid from Spencer Quarries was listed at $16.00 per ton. The minutes note that full hot-mix and concrete/bridge material bids are on file at the Beadle County Highway Shop for review.
