Beadle County approves $1.01 million in bills, publishes payroll and assets

The Beadle County Board of Commissioners approved payment of vendor claims totaling $1,008,645.04 and authorized the County Auditor to issue warrants to cover claims and payroll during its Feb. 24, 2026 meeting. The claims list included a large South Dakota Department of Transportation engineering fee noted as $828,825.42 and prisoner-meal charges of $11,622.43.
Auditor Jill Hanson presented payroll figures for the period, reporting TOTAL NET PAY of $196,683.72, TOTAL PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS of $164,823.95 and TOTAL PAYROLL of $361,507.67. The board also published the county's assets per statutory requirement, listing TOTAL ASSETS as $10,763,040.95.
Board members approved the bills as presented but excluded the Flint Hills bid because it was received late. Motions on claims and minutes were made by board members on the record (minutes approval moved by Allen Greenfield; claims approval moved by Jared Zerfoss), and the board carried the motions. The action was recorded in the minutes and the Auditor was authorized to proceed with payment.
