The finance representative said these appropriations are being made partly because vehicle procurement often requires multi-year lead times.
Council moved to suspend the three-reading requirement for the ordinance, approved the emergency clause and then adopted the ordinance by roll call. Staff said the appropriation sets funds aside now so they remain available when purchases are required.
