Council adopted Ordinance 25-45 as an emergency measure, approving the third supplemental appropriations for 2025. Finance staff explained the ordinance includes a $1,200,000 appropriation for a fire engine and additional amounts for a replacement cruiser, public works equipment and an appropriation for anticipated salt purchases. The finance representative said these appropriations are being made partly because vehicle procurement often requires multi-year lead times.
Council moved to suspend the three-reading requirement for the ordinance, approved the emergency clause and then adopted the ordinance by roll call. Staff said the appropriation sets funds aside now so they remain available when purchases are required.
