Commissioners approve hospital MOU to allow use of county facilities in evacuations

County staff presented a memorandum of understanding prepared by the hospital to allow the hospital to use county property if the hospital were evacuated. Staff said county counsel requested added liability and indemnity language; the agreement stipulates that no money would change hands and that the hospital would provide staff, food and equipment while indemnifying the county. "Jeannie just requested that we add that, the hospital would indemnify the county," a staff member said when describing the revision.
The board approved the MOU by voice vote after staff explained options for sites (the Big Horn Center or the fairgrounds) and confirmed insurance and indemnity language would be included. The staff presenter said the hospital would be responsible for personnel and supplies during any such operation and that county facilities would be used under the terms agreed in the MOU. Next steps: staff indicated they would file the executed MOU and ensure required insurance documentation is on file.
