Morgan County accepts $471,557 EPD grant for recycling baler, storage building

Assistant County Manager Mark Williams told commissioners that Morgan County was awarded $471,557 from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division to purchase a recycling baler and construct a building to house the equipment and temporarily store baled recyclables prior to transport. The total project cost was reported as $496,557; the county will provide a $25,000 local match from SPLOST funds already designated for transfer station improvements, and any remaining project costs will be fronted from the Solid Waste Fund and reimbursed.
Commissioner Ben Riden moved, and Commissioner Nathan Park seconded, approval to accept the grant, authorize the $25,000 match and proceed with purchase and construction not to exceed the total project cost. The motion passed unanimously.
