Residents urge trustees to move ahead with parks, citing youth jobs and economic benefits

Port committee member Carolyn Hobson — who said she has worked on the project for more than four years — asked trustees to consider that the community has already invested significant planning time and public input.
Several parents and youth‑sports organizers described lost local playing opportunities and revenue currently captured by neighboring cities, and asked trustees to proceed with the phased plan that preserves gameplay quality while controlling near‑term costs. Staff acknowledged operating‑revenue assumptions and confirmed an earlier operating analysis (March 24 packet) estimated admission and rental fee structures for the aquatic facility.
