George C. Carlson was sworn in as a district chief of the Morton Grove Fire Department during the board meeting.
Chief Kennedy announced Carlson’s appointment and described the district chief role as second-in-command for a 24-hour shift, responsible for incident command and added administrative duties. Kennedy read Carlson’s biography, noting Carlson began his service in 2001 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2021 and has earned certifications including advanced company officer and chief fire officer.
During the oath Carlson recited: "I, George C Carlson, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Illinois... and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of office of fire district chief of the Village of Morton Grove, according to the best of my ability." Family members attended the swearing-in and Carlson acknowledged their support. The board and attendees offered congratulations; the president thanked Carlson for 25 years of service and welcomed his future work for the village.
