City Manager Bridal updated council on upcoming road work and detours affecting downtown and regional routes.
Bridal said Central Avenue was closed Aug. 3 for a 30-day contractor schedule tied to the Point Project between Lake Street and the railroad bridge; the contractor anticipates reopening by the end of the week following Sept. 3 but the schedule could shift. He also previewed a planned partial closure of State Route 521 near Oakland Nursery, tentatively scheduled from 9 p.m. Sept. 26 through 6 a.m. Sept. 29, and said ODOT and the county engineer have coordinated a regional detour using Old State up through Kilbourn to Route 36 for through traffic.
“Those businesses will still be able to be accessed,” Bridal said, and staff will provide signage and reach out to impacted business owners as the dates approach. Council asked about specific detour routing and staff indicated Old State to 36 would serve regional through traffic while local routing will route drivers to businesses on Bow Town and adjacent connectors.
