Meredith Cassell, Risk Management Specialist for Bossier Parish, reported to the Industrial Development Committee that the Johnny Gray Jones Youth Shelter has active listings on two subscription-only commercial listing websites. Cassell said the listings "detail the facility and availability" but currently do not include information on lease terms or other conditions. She said the listing is active and has been viewed.
During follow-up questions, Co-Chair Pam Glorioso asked whether the parish previously obtained an appraisal; Dr. Ken Ward said David W. Volentine, MAI, appraised the facility and provided a valuation report. Juror Tom Salzer said any future lease should "require a similar intended use," and juror Jimmy Cochran noted the original donation deed provides that the property "reverts to the family if the parish no longer has use for the property." Ward said he will bring additional information for jurors if interest is generated by the commercial listings.
