Committee recommends changing public-records request email to recordsrequest@bossierparishla.gov

Dr. Ken Ward, Parish Administrator, presented a proposed update to Bossier Parish Police Jury Policy No. 770 to change the official public-records request submission email from mramos@bossierparishla.gov to recordsrequest@bossierparishla.gov to ensure continuity when staffing changes occur; the new address will forward to Parish Secretary Ashley Ezell and Assistant Parish Secretary Julie Gill. Dr. Ward said Information Technology will route requests to an alternate address when both staff are out of the office to maintain continuity.

Patrick Jackson, Parish Attorney, told the committee the parish receives a large number of public-records requests and that staff must carefully review voluminous requests to avoid missing responsive records; he advised current law does not allow responding by directing requesters solely to minutes, agendas, or online budgets and said he will ask the parish legislative delegation to consider changes to the rules governing records requests. Parish Treasurer Stacie Fernandez noted statutory time limits require staff to pause other work to compile responses. Chairman Doug Rimmer called for a committee vote and the committee voted to forward the proposed Policy No. 770 update to the April 1, 2026 Regular agenda.
