Board approves placement of manufactured home on Turkey Point Drive

The Troup County Board of Zoning approved a first-reading, vote-eligible request to place a manufactured housing unit on an approximately 10.05-acre parcel on Turkey Point Drive for applicant Carlin Call. Staff described the parcel as zoned Lakeside Residential, said the notice ran July 26 and a sign was posted July 28, and recommended approval with conditions including required septic, well and building permits. The staff report described the proposed unit as a new four-bedroom, two-bath manufactured home of about 2,280 heated square feet with a completed housing value of about $231,013.

During the public hearing the director of community development relayed that a nearby resident, Gail Dacus, had phoned with a question about whether the proposal was for a single dwelling or a manufactured-home park; staff clarified it was for a single dwelling and said a park would require rezoning. Committee member (S3) moved to approve the application and, after a second, the Chair called for hands; the board approved the motion 4–1. Staff indicated the case will be forwarded to the Board of Commissioners for consideration on September 2 and that required permits (septic, well and building) must be obtained before placement.
