A tax-office representative spoke to commissioners about legislative changes that altered the content of assessment notices and encouraged property owners to apply for homestead exemptions during an extended appeals window. The assessor said the homestead appeal deadline is extended to Aug. 15 for this year and explained available appeal routes: staff review, Board of Assessors, Board of Equalization and, ultimately, Superior Court.
The tax representative urged property owners to come to the office to review their assessments, said staff can visit property owners who cannot come in, and encouraged public outreach about the extended deadline. "If a property owner does not have homestead, they can apply and get homestead for this year...the deadline is August 15," the assessor said. The presenter also reported strong collection performance: real-property collections of about 99.87% and combined collection around 99.48% for 2025.
