Lindsay Pert Fairchild, a current alternate on the Planning and Zoning Commission, appeared before the Board of Selectmen during the July 22 meeting seeking reappointment. She said her top priorities would be to "apply the state laws, our zoning regulations, and the POCD equally, evenly, and fairly to all applicants," and confirmed she would recuse herself if a conflict of interest arose.
Fairchild described more than 20 years of residency in Stonington, training required of commission members, and professional experience in environmental management, coastal geology and permitting, and GIS. She told the board she has served on local committees including the Mystic River Historical Society, the Waterfront Commission and the POCD Implementation Committee and said a successful tenure would ensure applicants and neighbors feel regulations were applied fairly and that responsible housing and development are supported while maintaining the town's character.
