Residents press select board for clarity on maintenance, insurance and long-term costs

Multiple residents asked whether the town (and therefore taxpayers) would shoulder maintenance and insurance costs for the pavilion in future years. Melody Squire told the group that maintenance is likely to fall to whoever maintains the playground grounds and that a major roof replacement would likely be 25–30 years out. "I thought our roof is right now, I think the actual cost of the roof is about $4,500," she said, noting that insurance would be minimal and that a contingency fund is included in the budget for unexpected items.
Several attendees pushed back that donated assets still impose future costs and asked for more detail. Organizers acknowledged the need for clearer numbers and said that some ARPA funds remain and that the select board will provide additional budget information as the grant decision and site consultations proceed.
