Dane County Commission OKs easement sale to Dunn Sanitary District for Highway 51 work

At its meeting, the Dane County Park Commission approved Resolution 071 authorizing sale of permanent and temporary limited easements at Babcock County Park to the town of Dunn Sanitary District No. 3 to accommodate the next phase of Highway 51 work. Shireen Smith, real estate coordinator for Land and Water Resources, told the commission the sanitary district needs “about 7,900 square feet of permanent limited easement and 562 feet square feet of temporary limited easement,” and said the district offered $2,880 in compensation based on the Department of Transportation appraisal.
Chair Tom Thorsen called for questions and then asked for a voice vote; members approved the resolution by voice with no recorded opposition. Staff noted that the county previously sold PLE and TLE to DOT but that the sanitary district needed additional easement beyond what DOT acquired. The commission’s approval authorizes the county to complete the easement sale consistent with the terms described by staff.
