David Hook of Timber Home Vermont told the meeting he has a frame and associated materials available because Marshfield's planned site flooded. "We had we put the Versher one up with volunteers — 20 volunteers, we put that up in basically an afternoon," he said, describing prior volunteer build experience and noting most of the project's cost predictability comes from fixed-price vendor quotes.
Hook and other recreation committee members said the company's scope includes engineered plans and pier construction, while local volunteers and donors would cover roof materials and on-site labor. The town discussed an MOU from Marshfield to hold the pavilion until financing is confirmed; Marshfield would retain ownership of the kit unless the town completes funding and permit requirements by the date specified in the MOU.
Vendor testimony reassured some residents about build feasibility but prompted others to press for a site visit and formal engineering review to confirm quoted prices and address subsurface or drainage unknowns.
