"The total of the 4 that are being purchased is 835,000," a staff presenter said. Staff also said two tandem trucks purchased in 2023 have quoted trade-in values of $190,000 each, which offsets the county’s upfront exposure.
Fleet and shop staff described specific maintenance problems on older units (clutches, injectors, turbo repairs) and said warranties on new trucks cover many early repairs. Commissioners discussed timing, the vendor’s 13‑month minimum holding period for trucks in the program, and the county’s ability to time buyer’s orders to market production. Staff said the purchase recommendation will be on tonight’s agenda for formal action.
