County nearing agreement to acquire school parcel for new Station 14; civil-site design contract proposed

Kenny Bennett said the county had discussed transferring a little less than 5 acres from the school, and that the school board would reserve an easement for bus parking (staff reported 10–12 buses in early drafts). "They seem very supportive of the measure," Bennett said; he added the final MOU and conveyance documents are under review and he expected the school board to act in the coming weeks.
Separately, Jay Anderson asked the board to approve a civil‑engineering contract with Harris Gray (West Point) for $64,000 to prepare site layout, GDOT permitting, erosion control plans and construction documents. Anderson said the civil plan would allow the county to post the project to bid in roughly 30–45 days. Commissioners asked for final MOU language on access and bus-parking details before approving conveyance paperwork.
