She praised the Encore summer program and said, "when I heard this number I couldn't believe it, over 1,800 students" participated in Encore; she also reported the district's extended school‑year (ESY) supported about 145 participants. On district food service, Jansen said the meal program served "over 49,000 meals" between June 1 and July 17 and noted Nicholas Junior High continues community meal service through August 5.
Jansen also highlighted recent community partnerships, noting a Feed the Children distribution last week serving boxes of food and supplies to more than 4,000 families with support from local partners. She closed by reminding the community of a welcome‑back health fair on August 5 and the first day of school on August 10.
