Supervisor Beeces presented the resolution and described local disparities cited in county assessments: "This assessment found that 50.1 percent of white students who are depressed receive mental health services compared to only 28 percent of students of color who are depressed," the presentation summarized. Fernando Canospina, a lead facilitator for the BIPOC Mental Health Coalition and director of administration and inclusion at RISE Wisconsin, invited supervisors and residents to a free BIPOC mental health conference on November 7 at the Center for Black Excellence. The board moved and approved the ceremonial resolution by voice vote.
