Staff says Airbnb will reimburse erroneously charged county lodging tax within city limits

Staff told the committee that Airbnb has taken responsibility for reimbursing anyone who paid county lodging tax within the city limits in error, effective July 1. "They Airbnb will take the, proactive, responsibility to reimburse anybody that paid that tax erroneously," the staff member said.
Staff said that because Airbnb will handle reimbursements directly, the city and county would not have to be involved in individual reimbursements. Committee members expressed relief about avoiding administrative complexity, and staff said they will monitor the situation and confirm whether affected residents receive reimbursements as promised.
