Board to notify property owners; residents urged to trim overhanging vegetation before sidewalk work

Commissioner Tyler Kartsman said staff is preparing letters for residents whose property fronts will be affected by the sidewalk work and asked homeowners to trim overhanging trees and shrubs so contractors do not have to add the work as a change order. "Only a few of them have some trees or shrubs or something that's overhanging that, we'd like to see the residents cut back so that doesn't cost us in the project," Kartsman said.
Ryan recommended sending informational letters to all property owners in the work areas to reduce confusion during construction and to advise owners to remove items such as planter boxes from the sidewalk. He noted that contractors may not be able to move personal materials safely and that leaving items in place could risk additional charges or delays.
