The Land Information Office said drone use has increased for data collection, imagery and video, and 3D modeling projects. Andy Hess listed Drone2Map Advanced among new capabilities and described missions supporting Parks, Tourism, Land and Water Conservation, Planning and Zoning, Emergency Management and municipal partners.
Hess identified specific uses: drone photos and videos for tourism and visitor guides, 3D meshes for highway shop stockpile calculations and park 3D models, drone imagery used for farmland preservation compliance, and drone support for the Stony Brook dredging project. The minutes show the drone program is being integrated into departmental field mapping and county promotional work; no new drone policy or procurement vote was recorded at the meeting.
