Napa County Law Library to join statewide council after $2,057 backfill allocation noted

The Napa County Public Law Library Board voted Aug. 20 to join the Council of California County Law Librarians (CCCLL) after manager Nikolaos (Nikolas) Pelekis described the council’s lobbying that led to one-time state funding for county law libraries.
"From the $18 million FY23 backfill fund, law libraries will receive $937,000 statewide, with Napa’s share being $2,057, expected by the end of August/September," Nikolas reported. James Jones moved to approve joining CCCLL and paying the $150 annual membership; Brian DeWitt seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Board members said participation helps Napa pursue and track state aid. Nikolas told trustees that CCCLL’s efforts helped secure the finalized County Law Library share of backfill filing fees; the Board asked staff to monitor when the funds are received and the account into which they are deposited.
The board’s action authorizes the manager to enroll the library and pay the membership fee. No further appropriation or detailed spending plan for Napa’s backfill share was presented at the meeting.
