Commissioner Tyler Kartsman outlines sidewalk projects on 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th Streets

Commissioner Tyler Kartsman told the Hudson City Public Works Board that approval letters for credits for next year were sent to residents and that those credits were approved. "The approval letters for the credits for next year were all sent out to the residents... but all the credits were approved," he said, inviting feedback from property owners.

Kartsman then reviewed the project locations included in this year’s sidewalk work. He listed 3rd Street (west side, Union to Partition); multiple stretches on 5th Street (east side, Rope Alley to State Street; both sides from State Street to Long Alley; and west-side segments from Prison Alley to Warren and Warren to Union); and a series of 6th Street upgrades (including State Street to Columbia on the west side and State Street to Long Alley on the east). He also identified alternates that would be included only if bids come in under budget, and noted a possible repair stretch on the 7th block of Warren Street (711–731 Warren).

Kartsman said some parcels were dropped and others added after the city adjusted the project scope to reflect concurrent sewer and gas tie-ins. He urged residents with vegetation overhanging sidewalks to trim it before construction to avoid the city adding those items as change-order work. The board did not take a formal vote on the projects during the brief report; staff indicated outreach and bid planning will continue.
