Commission approves TA grant application to leverage $500,000 for Excel Rd extension after 20% local match fails

Vice Chair Deloyce McKee first moved to approve a 20% match but the motion died for lack of a second. McKee then moved "to apply for the TA Grant and to leverage $500,000 on the TA grant for part of the Excel Rd extension project." Commissioner Merl Page seconded and the motion carried 4-0. Minutes record staff describing the arrangement as the state building roughly one-third of the bridge and the pedestrian bridge and sidewalk under the grant scenario.
The board approved pursuing the grant application; the record shows the commission did not commit to the 20% local match at this meeting.
