County approves reman long block to repair 2020 John Deere motor grader

Commissioner Gary D Yenzer moved to approve the reman long block; Commissioner Merl Page seconded and the motion carried 4-0.
Public Works Administrator Tim Eisenbarth told the board that the county could either buy a reman long block or have the county shop rebuild the motor in-house. Eisenbarth and consultant Nathan Bergman of Bartlett & West discussed the options and the relative cost and timeline implications. The minutes record the repair cost as "exceeding $25,000," which was presented as the threshold requiring the board's approval.
The decision follows the commission's standard procurement discussion and will allow staff to proceed with the remanufactured long block purchase. Chair Terry Force was not present for the vote.
