Derek Wallace, representing employee group Local 720, reminded the committee of recommendations passed in the prior handbook cycle and asked that those items be carried forward into the 2026 review. "Employee group representatives should have the right to assist employees with the preparation and conduct of reclassification, reallocation, hearings, and appeals," he said, and urged codifying telework exceptions that are currently temporary.
Wallace also asked for additional policy clarity on employee procedures during hazardous air quality and extreme heat and for a provision to make employees whole when a private vehicle is damaged while used for county business. He described the proposed changes as having "no financial impact or really negligible impact from our perspective" and said EGRs would be willing to work through details during the meet‑and‑confer sessions.
