Winn Parish adopts 2025 budget with modest estimated surpluses in multiple funds

At its Dec. 16, 2024 meeting the Winn Parish Police Jury approved the 2025 Proposed Budget. The motion to adopt, moved by Deionne Carpenter and seconded by Darrell Franks, passed with six jurors voting yea and President Frank McLaren recorded as abstaining.
Key figures in the packet included General Fund estimated revenues of $2,107,326.00 and estimated expenses of $2,082,443.00 for an estimated balance of $24,883.00 at Dec. 31, 2025. The Road Fund shows estimated revenues of $3,018,335.00 and total estimated expenses of $2,970,471.00 with an estimated balance of $47,864.00. Other funds (Health Unit, Sales Tax, Library, Opioid Abatement) were included in the packet with line-item estimates.
Jurors were presented detailed fund tables during the meeting before the adoption vote. The adopted figures will guide the parish's 2025 spending plan and budget monitoring.
