The Winn Parish Police Jury considered and rejected a motion to change its regular meeting time to 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 16, 2024. The motion, moved by Author Robinson and seconded by Kyle Potts, failed with two jurors voting yes (Robinson and Potts), three voting no (Phillip Evans, Deionne Carpenter and Stanley Garrett) and two abstentions (Darrell Franks and President Frank McLaren).
The change-of-time proposal had been added to the agenda at the start of the meeting after a procedural vote to include it. That preliminary vote to add the item was reported as approved earlier in the meeting. After discussion on the motion itself, the Jury declined to alter its meeting time. Later in the same session the Jury formally declared its 2025 regular meeting dates and times at 5:00 p.m. on specified dates, a schedule that passed by a separate vote.
The failed motion did not include a formal amendment or conditional language; with the vote outcome the Jury will keep its established 5:00 p.m. start time for 2025. The meeting adjourned at 5:34 p.m.
