Winn Parish Jury approves resolutions to fund local road projects and prep a recreation field for Spring 2025

The Winn Parish Police Jury adopted a package of resolutions at its Nov. 18 meeting to support local infrastructure and recreation projects.
Resolution #022 (2024), moved by Mrs. Deionne Carpenter, authorizes assistance to the City of Winnfield to prepare field five at the recreation center for the Spring 2025 Buddy Ball season; President Frank McLaren noted the request originated with Dixie Youth. Resolution #023 (2024), moved by Mr. Stanley Garrett, directs pothole patching on 3rd, Poole and Elliott Streets in the Village of Calvin, replacement of some street signs, and opening of a culvert at Poole and Second Street.
The Jury also adopted Resolution #024 (2024) verifying $150,000 in matching funds for the Aunt Marie’s Road project and authorized President McLaren to sign related documents, and Resolution #025 (2024) verifying $225,000 in matching funds for L. Sullivan Road and similarly authorizing the President to execute project documents. All resolutions carried by recorded motion; vote tallies were recorded as six yeas, zero nays, zero absent and one abstention.
