Winn Parish sheriff reports $50,000 litter grant, lowers inmate daily rate to $14

Sheriff Josh McAllister addressed the Winn Parish Police Jury Nov. 18 and announced his office is receiving a $50,000 litter abatement grant to help fund litter crews, with no cost to the Jury. He said the grant should allow the office to field two litter crews after the first of the year.
McAllister also said he has reduced the daily jail rate charged for parish inmates to $14.00 per day. He noted that medical costs for inmates have increased and that he keeps the Secretary/Treasurer and the President informed when an inmate has major medical expenses. Jurors praised recent drug arrests and road patrols by the Sheriff’s Office.
