County staff asked the board to approve contracting for professional civil engineering services to design and prepare bid documents for a new fire station to be located at 3157 [Road], moving Station 14 out of the airport-adjacent location into unincorporated Troup County. "We are relocating, or proposing to relocate Station 14, which is adjacent to the LaGrange Cali Airport, out into the more unincorporated Troup County and provide better fire services for the unincorporated county as a whole," County Manager (speaker 3) said.
The board approved the county’s request to proceed with civil engineering services as the next step in the bidding and construction process. Staff discussed potential relocation uses for the existing building (e.g., moving construction and maintenance operations there) and indicated future coordination with the city on apparatus storage and site use.
