Board authorizes 'brunch bill' resolution to go on ballot for earlier alcohol sales

Mr. Harper (speaker 8) told the board the resolution is essentially the same as one considered last November but would move the permitted on-premises alcohol sales time from 12:30 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. "The only difference is changing the time from 12:30, backing it up to 11AM, and to be able to sell alcoholic beverage on premises at 11AM," he said. He noted the change would let patrons be served earlier on brunch menus.
Staff cautioned that adding the resolution to the November ballot presents a tight timeline: it may be added under a 45-day municipal window or else require a special election in which the county would hold election services for all precincts. The board voted to issue the call for the resolution so the process can proceed.
