The City of Ruston approved Resolution 808 at its April 15, 2025 meeting to enter an on-call agreement with Berk Consulting, Inc. for park planning, public outreach, grant writing and land-acquisition services. Councilmember Syler moved to approve the resolution, Councilmember Huson seconded, and the motion passed 5-0.
Council materials state the City solicited statements of qualifications and found two firms qualified (Berk Consulting, Inc. and Conservation Technix, Inc.) and proposed contracting with both firms so the City can use either as needed. Councilmember Jensen asked whether the agreement would be funded through an EPA grant and whether the City would be reimbursed for expenditures; Mayor Pro Tem Hedrick confirmed the work would be funded by the EPA grant. The agreement pays consultants on an hourly basis per Exhibit B of the contract.
