Grant Helley, who identified himself as the director of the Offices of Sustainability and director of facilities planning and development and chair of the County Facilities Planning (CFP) steering committee, presented the CFP subgroup's review of facility-related 2027 capital requests. "There were 150 project requests total," Helley said. "We ended up scoring 124 project requests, and the final advisory recommendation is that all 124 projects are recommended and are aligned with Milwaukee County's overall facility strategy."
Helley said the CFP subgroup excluded 26 requests that did not directly affect the county's physical facility footprint (for example, certain technology or DOT highway division requests) and noted that CFP's work has reduced the county's facility footprint by nearly 2,000,000 square feet since the committee's inception. He acknowledged the CFP did not score projects outside its charter and that departments provided project-level data used for scoring.
Committee members asked for clarification about the report table and how many projects were scored versus excluded. Helley reiterated the counts and encouraged members to review the attached report for the full list of projects. The presentation concluded with staff and members noting this CFP advisory will feed into the CIC subcommittee's scoring review and subsequent committee meetings.
