Council awards design contracts for Boley and Dixie wells, storm drain and waterline projects

The City Council on Jan. 13 approved several design contracts for water and storm infrastructure. The Boley Well rehabilitation design was awarded to Horrocks for $53,286; the Council added a $10,000 city-held engineering contingency to the contract citing Horrocks’ prior experience with City water systems. Clark Taylor moved the award and it passed unanimously.
Council also approved the Dixie Well design agreement with Bowen Collins & Associates and awarded design contracts for the 860 East 1300 South storm drain and the 100 East (740 N to 1120 N) waterline replacement to Hansen, Allen & Luce. Council discussion noted concerns about bid participation and potential prioritization of work near Shelley Elementary due to recent waterline breaks. All motions passed unanimously.
