City Recorder Terilyn Lurker administered the Oath of Office to Staci Carroll and Ryan Hunter during a Jan. 5, 2026, special session of the American Fork City Council at City Hall.
After her oath, Council Member Staci Carroll thanked her husband and children for their support, reflected on several completed projects—Boat Harbor enhancements, Library updates, Fire Station 52, a large park near the lake, Mary and Art Dye Park and preserved Monarch Park—and offered three lessons she has learned in local government: "assume good intent," treat the person across from you as a neighbor and accept that "not everyone is going to like you." Council Member Ryan Hunter, also sworn in, said he was "unprepared" and praised Carroll's preparation; he thanked his family and staff and urged residents to reach out, saying council members "live here, too, and want to hear from" constituents.
The ceremony concluded with brief remarks from other council members and a unanimous motion to adjourn at 12:30 p.m.
