County to quitclaim old Brewton street to adjacent landowner

The Laurens County Board of Commissioners voted April 21 to quitclaim an old city street in Brewton to adjacent landowner Susan B. Veal. County Attorney Brad Childers told commissioners the roadway had not been maintained by the county, appears to have originated from land now held by Veal, and is of no value to the county or neighboring owners.
Commissioner Kevin Tanner moved to quitclaim the Brewton property to Susan B. Veal; Commissioner Gerad Mathis seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The meeting record does not indicate any retained easements or conditions attached to the quitclaim at the time of approval.
