Clay County solicited bids for the Clay Creek Ditch Cleanout Project Phase 3 in late October 2016. At the Oct. 25 public opening three bids were read aloud; Johnson Engineering reviewed the bids for specification compliance. The county accepted the conforming low bid (base + alternates) from Jerke & Sons Construction, and contractors subsequently mobilized to complete the cleanout in coordination with county weed and highway crews.
Commissioners authorized payments to Johnson Engineering for inspection work and coordinated with Pollman Excavation on slough cleaning and culvert replacements in lateral sections. The project completion was part of a multi‑year effort to restore ditch capacity and address drainage/flooding concerns for adjacent landowners.
