Commission member Ed Pool reviewed a proposed House Bill 711 regarding solar facilities and the commission added discussion of the county’s Solar Ordinance to Old Business. Board liaison Andrew Overby asked Ed Pool to update the currently approved Solar Ordinance with redlines and questions for the Board of Supervisors to review and return direction to the Planning Commission.
During public comment, Trena Anderson (Peters Creek District) stated opposition to solar facilities, and Jimi Agee (Blue Ridge District) raised concerns about internet communications and solar facilities. The commission did not take a final vote on ordinance changes at the Jan. 20 meeting but directed that redlines and clarifying questions be prepared for the Board of Supervisors.
